How does hearing work?

Sound travels into your ear and through the ear canal. At the end of the ear canal is the ear drum. The ear drum is connected to 3 little bones called the Hammer, the anvil and the stirrup. They are the smallest bones in your body. They vibrate and amplify some of the sounds. The stirrup is connected to the Cochlea which is the nerve centre for our hearing. The cochlea is connected to the auditory nerve which sends the signal to the brain where it is interpreted as sound and speech.
